BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (9-8/4-2) had scored 47 runs in its previous five games entering today, but plated just a single run in a two-game sweep by visiting Brockport (9-9/2-2), falling 6-1 and 2-0.
Joanna Bardak (Amherst/Amherst) provided the Bengals' only offense of the first game in the form of a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Bengals could not erase the large deficit. Buffalo State managed just four hits, while Brockport converted seven hits and six walks into six runs. The Golden Eagles scored one in the second, two more in the third and then put the game out of reach with three runs in the seventh.
Maddie Coneys (Clifton Park/Catholic Central) took the loss, allowing four hits and three runs in six innings of work. She had six strikeouts, but issued five walks and hit one batter.
Alison Novak (Amherst/Williamsville North) pitched the final inning, allowing three hits and three runs.
The Bengals managed just four hits again in the late game, and could not produce a single run. Brockport scored on a throwing error in the third inning and added an insurance marker on an RBI double in the fifth. Buffalo State never advanced a base runner past second.
Alexis Haley (Rochester/Aquinas) was saddled with the loss, scattering six hits, while allowing just one earned run and striking out four.
Buffalo State is scheduled to visit Oswego this Friday at 3 p.m.
