BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State (4-6, 2-1 SUNYAC) could not overcome a quick 7-0 run by Brockport (6-3, 2-1 SUNYAC) in the opening minutes of a conference matchup and fell 23-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Coyer Field.

Kendra Thomas (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) scored two goals, while Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview, NY/Frontier), Alanna Herne (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) and Alexandra Ruggieri (Brockport, NY/Brockport) each added a goal apiece.

Colleen George (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) recorded the loss in net, playing 54:22 and making eight saves. Megan Doyle (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) closed out the final 5:38 of the game and made three saves.

Brockport opened the game with two quick goals in the first two minutes and never looked back, staying ahead for the remainder of the game. Thomas tallied Buffalo State's first goal at 17:43 and Herne scored with just over 10 minutes to play in the first half. The Golden Eagles closed out the half on a 5-0 run to take a 15-2 lead into halftime.

Buffalo State tallied the first goal of the second half, as Lorusso recorded her 24th goal of the season. Thomas tallied another goal at 18:59 and Ruggieri scored her first career goal in the final seconds of play.

The Bengals return to action on Thursday for a 4 p.m. SUNYAC matchup at Geneseo.
