No. 18 Geneseo Drops Women’s Lacrosse, 15-4

WEBSTER, NY—No. 18-ranked Geneseo (8-1/3-1) outscored Buffalo State (4-7/2-2) 8-0 in the second half en route to a 15-4 victory in a SUNYAC game this evening at Webster Schroeder High School.
 
Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) led Buffalo State with two goals and an assist, while Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview/Frontier) and Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endicott) also scored.
 
Geneseo opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game and never trailed again.  The Knights jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, but Buffalo State closed the gap to 6-4 with 10 minutes remaining in the opening half.  The Knights would add one more goal before the intermission, and shut the Bengals out over the final 40 minutes and 41 seconds to pull away for the victory.
 
Geneseo held a 12-8 advantage in draw controls, which helped lead to a 38-10 edge in shots.  Buffalo State finished with 19 turnovers, compared to 11 by the Knights.
 
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) was between the pipes for Buffalo State, finishing with 14 saves.
 
Buffalo State will next host Oneonta on Saturday at 1 p.m.
