Meghan Allen (Big Flats/Corning East)
scored twice as Buffalo State dominated possession and cruised to a 3-0 victory over visiting Elmira in the non-conference season opener today at Coyer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED- After a number of early quality scoring chances, the Bengals broke through in the 12th minute when Allen collected a loose ball off a deflection and fired a shot inside the left post.
- Newcomer Melissa Smith (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) made it 2-0 in the 65th minute with a crafty header off a perfect cross from Kristin Seiferth (Brightwaters/Bay Shore).
- Allen completed the scoring with her second of the game, one-timing a short pass in the box from Malyssa Chanthasoto (Norwood, NJ/NV at Old Tappan) in the 82nd minute.
- Buffalo State controlled play from the opening whistle and outshot the Soaring Eagles, 20-3, including 10-1 on goal.
- Sophomore Jessica McCarey (Middletown/Middletown) needed just one save to secure the shutout.
FOR THE FOES- Gabe Carmona finished with seven saves in goal for the Soaring Eagles.
- Elmira's best chance came in the 62nd minute when Sara Kazerouni had a shot sail wide on a breakaway chance.
