ROCHESTER, N.Y.— Buffalo State opened up the RIT Tournament on Friday evening with a quick win over Alfred University before falling in three sets to Nazareth.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Saxons kept things close in the first set, but Buffalo State cruised in the final two sets to earn the straight sets win.
- Hannah Renaldo (N. Collins/N. Collins) led the Bengals' offense with eight kills.
- Jennifer Cecchettini (Hamburg/Frontier) dished out 16 assists and recorded a team-high four service aces.
- Defensively, Rachelle Kelchlin (W. Seneca, St. Mary's) held strong for the Bengals with 17 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Against the Golden Flyers, Buffalo State struggled in set one and despite closing the gap in the final two sets, could not find the momentum they needed for a comeback.
- Renaldo once again led the Bengals' offense finishing with nine kills.
- Cecchettini dished out 18 assists and tallied nine digs.
- Kelchlin led defensively, recording a team-high 12 digs.
UP NEXTBuffalo State will play two more matches tomorrow to conclude the RIT tournament, facing Mt. St. Mary at noon, before playing the host Tigers at 4 p.m.
