CLEVELAND, Ohio—Freshman 
Erica Knudsen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) made five saves for her first collegiate shutout to backstop visiting Buffalo State to a 1-0 victory over Case Western Reserve in a non-conference game this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Buffalo State produced the game's only offense in the 23rd minute when Victoria Colotti (New Windsor/Newburgh Free) scored her first goal of the season, heading a ball from Melissa Smith (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) into the back of the net.
- The Bengals outshot the Spartans 6-2 in the first half, before protecting the lead over the final 45 minutes.  Case outshot Buffalo State 14-5 in the second half and finished with a 16-11 advantage for the game.
- The Spartans put together a late push with five shots in the final five minutes, but four missed the mark and Knudsen stopped the other.
FOR THE FOES- Megan Romelfanger played in goal for the first half, finishing with one save, while Sarah Newcomb made one save for the Spartans in the second half.
UP NEXTBuffalo State will return to Coyer Field to open SUNYAC play this Friday against Brockport at 3 p.m.
