BUFFALO, N.Y.— Trailing by 18 points early in the second half, Buffalo State fought back to within two points, but its comeback fell short as the Bengals lost to Brockport 73-71 in a SUNYAC matchup at home on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Brockport took an early 3-0 lead in the first minute of play and held onto the lead for the remainder of the game.
- The Bengals kept the game close through the majority of the first quarter, but a 5-0 run from the Golden Eagles put them ahead 22-14 heading into the second quarter.
- A 3-pointer from Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) at 8:08 in the second quarter brought the Bengals to within one point of Brockport, but the Golden Eagles outscored Buffalo State 14-8 in the rest of the period to head into halftime up by seven, 37-30.
- In the third quarter, strong shooting from Brockport helped push the Golden Eagle lead to 18 points at 1:46.
- Despite heading into the final quarter down by 18 points, 57-39, the Bengals refused to give up. Midway through the fourth, Buffalo State went on a 15-2 run to cut Brockport's lead down to four points, 60-56.
- The Golden Eagles were able to push their lead back out to seven points, 69-62, with just under a minute to play. A quick 3-pointer from Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) and two free throws from Perry, however, brought the Bengals to within two points with 18 seconds left on the clock.
- The Bengals were unable to come up with the game tying play they needed in the final seconds of the game.
- Perry led the Buffalo State offense with 23 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) added 18 points and eight rebounds, while Matias and Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) each chipped in eight points.
- The Bengals finished the night shooting 35.5 percent from the floor, 15 percent from long range and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.
FOR THE FOES- Olivia Suhr led the Golden Eagle offense with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Faith Welch added 20 points and eight assists. Hannah Spencer chipped in 10 points.
- Brockport finished the night shooting 50 percent from the floor, 25 percent from long range and 63.6 percent from the free throw line.
