BUFFALO, N.Y.— Buffalo State found itself down early and despite a strong third quarter, the Bengals ultimately fell to Geneseo 63-52 in a SUNYAC matchup at home on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Geneseo started the game with a quick 4-0 run a little over a minute into play and remained in the lead for the rest of the afternoon.
- Buffalo State was able to keep the game close through the first quarter, but the Knights took advantage of a 44.8 first half shooting percentage and pushed their lead out to as many as 13 points.
- A 3-point play from Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) at 1:22 cut the Geneseo lead to 10, but a free throw in the last 30 seconds of the half put the Knights up 36-25 heading into halftime.
- In the third quarter, Buffalo State outscored Geneseo 18-12 and pulled to within four points, 43-39, off a fast break jumper from Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) at 5:46.
- The Knights, however, quickly responded with a 3-pointer 16 seconds later and then opened the final quarter on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 15, 58-43 with 4:38 on the clock.
- The closest the Bengals would get in the final minutes was 11 points.
- Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) led the way on offense for Buffalo State with a career-high 15 points. Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Perry tallied 12 points, four assists and three steals.
- The Bengals finished the game shooting 28.8 percent from the floor, 18.2 percent from long range and 92.3 percent from the free throw line.
FOR THE FOES- Katie Vienneau led the scoring for Geneseo with 18 points and added eight rebounds, while Allison McKenna recorded a double-double, chipping in 15 points and 13 boards.
- The Knights finished the game shooting 36.1 percent, 15 percent from long range and 69.6 percent from the free throw line.
- Geneseo held a 51-38 advantage in rebounds and took advantage of 36 points off the bench.
