FREDONIA, N.Y.—Buffalo State overcame an early 15-point deficit and led in the closing seconds of regulation and overtime, but could not hold on as visiting Fredonia claimed a 94-92 victory tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) and Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) led Buffalo State with 20 points each. Perry also finished with 12 rebounds and six assists.
- Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) added 16 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.
- Krystal Watson (Buffalo/Sacred Heart) also had a career-best 16 points, and Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) scored 11.
- Fredonia came out shooting and led by as many as 15 in the first quarter and led 36-23 through the opening 10 minutes. The Blue Devils continued to keep separation into the third quarter.
- Buffalo State battled back and took its first lead since 3-2 at 74-72 with 7:20 remaining in regulation. After trading the lead a couple of times down the stretch, the Bengals broke an 84-84 tie when Perry stole a Fredonia inbounds attempt and hit two free throws just 2.3 seconds remaining.
- Fredonia was able to force a long inbound pass in and was fouled in the paint with 0.9 seconds remaining, however, and Jacque Law calmly hit both free throws to force the extra session.
- The Bengals took a four-point lead midway through overtime, before a 5-0 run gave Fredonia a one-point lead with 34 seconds remaining. Watson hit a jumper to give Buffalo State a 92-91 lead with 15 seconds left, but Fredonia was quickly fouled and Alexis Cheatham nailed two more free throws with 12 seconds remaining. Buffalo State missed a layup attempt at the other end and Fredonia completed the scoring hitting one more free throw with one second remaining.
- Buffalo State outrebounded Fredonia 58-35 and held a 31-9 advantage in second-chance points.
- The Bengals struggled to keep up with Fredonia, however, as the Blue Devils outscored Buffalo State 26-2 on the fast break.
FOR THE FOES- Cheatham finished with 24 points and 10 assists, and Law also scored 24.
- Sabrina MacAuley added 13 points, and Jenna Einink had 12 points, six blocks and four steals.
NOTEWORTHY- The victory earned one point for Fredonia in the season-long, all-sports "Battle by the Lake" competition between the two schools.
