BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State scored three goals in a span of less than two minutes early in the second period en route to a 4-1 victory over visiting Salem State tonight a non-conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Erin Gehen (West Seneca, NY/W. Seneca West) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead Buffalo State.
- Missy Mallon (Amherst, NY/Amherst) added a goal and an assist, and Maddie Toczek (N. Tonawanda/Starpoint) also scored.
- Emma Ruggiero (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart) chipped in a pair of assists.
- Buffalo State controlled play from the opening faceoff, but only held a 1-0 lead on Gehen's first of the night after 20 minutes, despite outshooting the Vikings, 14-4.
- The Bengals pulled away early in the second period, however, as Mallon and Toczek scored just eight seconds apart in the early going.
- Gehen netted her second of the game and team-leading 14th of the season just 1:44 later to push the Bengals' advantage to 4-0.
- Salem State scored its lone goal just 3:47 into the third period when a point shot ricocheted off a Viking player's leg and past Sarah Quigley (Canton, MA/National Sports Academy).
- Buffalo State finished with a 40-12 advantage in shots.
- Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) stopped all nine shots she faced in the first two periods, before Quigley finished with two saves in the third period in relief.
FOR THE FOES- Danielle Kelley scored the Vikings' goal with assists from Kelsey Russell and Madison Kingston.
- Jenn Toussaint finished with 36 stops between the pipes.
NOTEWORTHY- Buffalo State tied a school record with its 11th victory of the season, matching the mark set in 2000-01.
