Student-Athletes kick off week-long community service event at Delaware Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Over 150 Buffalo State student-athletes will head across the street to Delaware Park to help clean up fallen leaves in the park and along Lincoln Parkway throughout this week.

The leaf raking community service event runs Oct. 29 thru Nov. 5 and is the second-straight year that Buffalo State athletics has teamed up with the park for a leaf raking, community event.

This year's event expanded from just a single-day to a week-long initiative to give maximum help to the park and surrounding areas.

Women's soccer, men's soccer and men's hockey kicked off the event this weekend with the rest of the school's teams to follow over the course of the week.

Delaware Park is part of the Olmstead Park system that serves over 2.5 million people annually, and sits on 350-acres of land, serving as the "Central Park" of Buffalo.  It is located just minutes from Buffalo State's Elmwood Village campus.

You can learn how and where to volunteer in your local Buffalo community's Olmsted Park here.

Photos will continue to be added to this post as they come in, along with a soon-to-come photo gallery on the Buffalo State Athletic's Facebook page.
