CLERMONT, Fla.— Buffalo State opened up the third day of its annual Spring Trip with a 5-2 win over Loras, but the Bengals bats came up short in a 4-1 loss to Benedictine in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Lexi Haley (Rochester/Aquinas) led the Buffalo State offense in the first game, going 2 for 4 with a run. She also earned the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run on nine hits.
- Chrissy Rennard (Brockport/Brockport) finished 1 for 2 with a run and two RBIs. Julia Blujus (Amherst/Amherst) also went 1 for 2 and tallied two runs and an RBI. Stephanie Novo (Cheektowaga/Depew) was 4 for 2 and added two RBIs.
- The Bengals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off a single up the middle from Novo and never trailed. A five hit, four run third inning put Buffalo State ahead 5-0.
- Loras managed to score one run in the top of the fourth and then again in the top of the fifth, but the Bengals shutout the Duhawks in the final two innings to seal the win.
FOR THE FOES- Makaila Haase finished 1 for 4 from the plate with one run and one RBI. She also recorded the loss in the circle with five runs on 12 hits and three walks in six innings pitched.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Novo led the Bengal offense in the second game, finishing 2 for 3 from the plate with a run. Jean Stahl (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) also went 2 for 3 from the plate.
- Nicole Adams (Lockport/Starpoint) recorded the loss in the circle after coming in to relieve Jordan Sarat (Caledonia/Caledonia-Mumford). Adams pitched 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. Haley finished the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits.
- Buffalo State took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off a sacrifice fly from Danielle Szymkowiak (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga), but was unable to score the rest of the game.
- Two runs in the top of the fifth for Benedictine put them up 3-1 and another run in the top of the seventh helped the Eagles seal the win.
FOR THE FOES- Shannon Fritsche led the Eagles offense, finishing 3 for 4 with two runs.
- Melissa Guzior earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run on six hits with three strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
UP NEXTBuffalo State returns to action at John Hancock Park on Thursday with a 12 p.m. matchup against Scranton and a 2 p.m. matchup against Saint Benedict.
