BUFFALO, N.Y.—
Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) scored the first three goals of the game and finished with eight points to lead Buffalo State to a 14-4 victory today over visiting New Paltz to pick up its first SUNYAC victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Herne finished with five goals and three assists, pushing her season scoring to a SUNYAC-best 65 points, including 41 goals.
- Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added three goals and three assists, while Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview/Frontier) also scored three times and assisted on another. Lorusso also led the Bengals with five caused turnovers, four ground balls and three draw controls.
- Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) chipped in a pair of goals, and Kyra Thompson (Massena/Salmon River) added a single marker.
- Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) played in goal in the first half, allowing three goals on four shots, and Megan Doyle (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) surrendered just one goal while making four saves in the second half.
- The Bengals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and led 10-3 at the intermission.
- Buffalo State continued to pull away in the second half, pushing the advantage to 10 goals with 15:18 remaining, and neither team would score the rest of the way.
- The Bengals outshot the Hawks, 28-13, and held a 12-8 edge in draw controls. They also forced 27 New Paltz turnovers, while committing 20.
FOR THE FOES- Caitlyn Morris scored twice for New Paltz, and Melissa Wagner and Nicole Stackpole added a goal apiece.
- Colleen Roemer finished with eight saves in the loss.
