Women’s Basketball drops Spartans for fourth straight win, 73-53

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Mariah Rosario (Flushing/RFK) recorded her first double-double of the early season to pace Buffalo State to a 73-53 victory over visiting D'Youville tonight in the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rosario finished with 13 points, a career best 13 rebounds, three blocks and a steal.
  • Liv LeBaron (Horseheads/Corning Painted Post) led the Bengals in scoring with 18 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals.
  • Kaelee Lynch (Atwater, CA/Buhach Colony) chipped in 11 points off the bench.  
  • Katie Villarini (Hamburg/Hamburg) and Kendall Mills (Buffalo/Kenmore East) finished with eight points and seven points respectively.
  • D'Youville opened the game by scoring nine of the first twelve points to lead 19-16 after the first 20 minutes.
  • Buffalo State regrouped and tied the game at 19-19 off a 3-pointer from Grace Licata (Williamsville/Williamsville South) with eight minutes left in the frame.
  • The Bengals captured the lead when Lynch knocked down a jumper with 3:59 left in the first half and maintained the lead as Buffalo State led 34-29 at halftime.
  • Buffalo State raced out a 14-point, 49-35 lead halfway through the third behind baskets from LeBaron, Mills and Villarini.
  • D'Youville threatened in the fourth quarter but failed to overcome the deficit as the Bengals claimed the win, 73-53.
  • Buffalo State outrebounded the Spartans 49-39, including a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds.
  • The Bengals controlled the paint for much of the game, outscoring D'Youville 30-20 for the game.

  • Jordan Evans led the Spartans with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Magan Magee chipped in 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals.
