Morrisville stuns No. 10/12 Men’s Hockey, 8-2

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Morrisville netted eight goals on just 18 shots to shock host No. 10/12 Buffalo State, 8-2, in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) converted on a pass from Roberts Smits (Riga, Latvia) into his 10th goal of the season to open the scoring for Buffalo State just 2:50 into the game.
  • Morrisville edged ahead with a pair of goals just 33 seconds apart midway through the frame, but Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) evened the score at 2-2 before the first intermission with his eighth of the season.
  • The Mustangs netted the only goal of the second period to reclaim a lead they would not relinquish.
  • Pryce appeared to even the score with a breakaway goal in the final minute of the middle frame, but the referee deemed the net had been knocked off before the puck crossed the line.
  • Things came undone for the Bengals from there, as Morrisville netted five goals on six shots in the third period, including an empty-netter, to pull away.
  • The Mustangs were 3 for 6 on the power play, while the Bengals finished 0 for 6.
  • Buffalo State dominate much of the game, outshooting Morrisville, 43-18.
  • Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) surrendered five goals on 14 shots, before Andrei Svistunov (Moscow, Russia) allowed two goals on three shots in relief.
