HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Block was 3 for 4 with a grand slam, two doubles and five RBIs and also earned the win with a complete-game six-hitter with seven strikeouts.
  • Julia Blujus (Amherst/Sacred Heart) was 3 for 4 with a run scored in her first game back from injury since Florida.
  • Danielle Szymkowiak (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) finished 2 for 2 with a double, a triple, a run scored and two walks.
  • The Bengals led off the game with a pair of bunt singles and a walk to load the bases, before Block's blast over the left field wall provided all the offense the Bengals would need with the early 4-0 advantage.
  • The Knights responded with two runs in the third, but answered with one run in the bottom of the inning and two more in a three-hit fourth inning.
  • The Knights completed the scoring with a solo homer in the sixth, but never threatened again.
