Women’s Volleyball splits to open season

CANTON, N.Y.—Buffalo State dropped its opening match against St. John Fisher in three sets, but bounced back with a straight-sets win over Cazenovia to open the 2017 season today at the North Country Season Opener at St. Lawrence.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State pushed the Cardinals deep into the opening set, but ultimately fell, 27-25, and then could not regroup, dropping its season-opening match in straight sets.
  • Brooke Latour (Lakewood/Southwestern) and Lauren Hansen (Blue Point/Bayport Blue Point) paced the Bengals' offense with six kills apiece, while Latour added two aces, and Hansen had 10 digs.
  • Alyssa Durski (Eden/Eden) finished with 16 assists, and Victoria Rigler (Amherst/Sweet Home) had a team-best 15 digs.

  • Anna Marcy led St. John Fisher with 13 kills, and Phoebe Kane had 16 assists.
