CANTON, N.Y.—Buffalo State pushed a pair of sets to the limit, but ultimately fell in straight-sets to Houghton today in the final match of the North Country Season Opener at St. Lawrence University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State dropped a tough first set 26-24. After falling 25-13 in the second, the Bengals nearly scratched out a third set win to extend the match, but dropped another 26-24 decision to end their day.
- Lauren Hansen (Blue Point/Bayport Blue Point) paced the offense again with eight kills and added four aces and seven digs.
- Brooke Latour (Lakewood/Southwestern) chipped in five kills.
- Alyssa Durski (Eden/Eden) finished with 17 assists, and Brittney Valentine (Marietta/Marcellus) and Tyler Reis (Meridianville, AL/Hazel Green) had a team-high nine digs each.
FOR THE FOES
- Amber Edwards had eight kills for the Highlanders.
- Anna Coryell finished with 27 assists, and Erica Barney had 12 digs.
NOTEWORTHY
- Durski was named to the All-Tournament Team.
