Men’s Basketball stumbles against Oneonta, 81-67

ONEONTA , N.Y.— Sir.Quintin Campbell (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) notched his fifth straight double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds but it was not enough as Buffalo State suffered an 81-67 setback against Oneonta in the SUNYAC matchup this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) led the Bengals in scoring with 23 points and five rebounds.
  • Malik Turner (New York/NIA Prep) and Bryan Harrell (Rochester/Early College) each finished with eight points.
  • Buffalo State's offense took control in the opening minutes as five different Bengals scored to take an 11-5 lead with 13:15 left in the first half.
  • Oneonta regrouped and used a pair of free throws by Darren Brown to retake a 17-16 lead with 9:01 remaining in the frame.
  • The Red Dragons finished the half on an 18-5 run to push the lead to 35-21 at halftime.
  • A layup from Campbell capped off a 14-5 run by Buffalo State that cut the lead to 45-40 with 12:43 left in the game.
  • The Bengals used the momentum to cut the lead to 54-51, its smallest deficit since the 11 minute mark of the first half.
  • Oneonta responded with an 11-4 to push the lead back to 65-55 with just over five minute remaining, and cruised for the win.
  • Buffalo State outscored the Red Dragons 36-22 in points in the paint, but were outshot 18-7 in points off turnovers.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Kevin Mackin led Oneonta with 21 points and five assists.
  • Jacob Rodriguez finished with 16 points and five rebounds.
