BUFFALO, N.Y.— Ian Helps had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead Fredonia to its first SUNYAC victory of the season today, defeating host Buffalo State, 81-72.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) led Buffalo State with 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting.
- Malik Turner (New York/NIA Prep) netted 17 points.
- Sir.Quintin Campbell (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds, and Sheldon Adams (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) had 11 points and four steals.
- The game featured 15 lead changes with Buffalo State holding a one-point advantage at the intermission, 47-46.
- With the score knotted at 52-52 early in the second half, the Blue Devils used an 8-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.
- Buffalo State cut the deficit to one on a pair of occasions, but Fredonia had an answer each time and eventually pulled away late.
- The Blue Devils dominated the glass, outrebounding Buffalo State, 49-33. They also outscored the Bengals 21-10 at the free throw line.
