BUFFALO, N.Y.—Fredonia used a 23-0 run in less than six minutes in the fourth quarter to erase a 13-point deficit and earn a critical 78-67 victory in a SUNYAC battle today at the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Katie Villarini (Hamburg/Hamburg) paced Buffalo State with a career-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers.
- Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) added 15 points and three steals.
- Fredonia was the early aggressor, jumping out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 11 in the second frame.
- Buffalo State rallied and outscored the Blue Devils 45-27 over the next two quarter and pushed its advantage to 13 at 65-52 with seven minutes remaining.
- Fredonia regrouped from there, outscoring the Bengals 26-2 for the remainder of the game. During the 23-0 run, Buffalo State was 0 for 10 from the field while committing five fouls and four turnovers.
- The Blue Devils overcame 19 turnovers that led to 24 Buffalo State points.
- Fredonia outscored Buffalo State 24-8 at the free-throw line, while the Bengals had a 24-16 advantage from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils also had a 45-35 rebounding edge.
FOR THE FOES
- Emily Lasher led four Fredonia players in double figures with 21 points.
- Jacque Law added 20 points, putting her over 1,000 for her career, and grabbed nine rebounds.
- Ann Chiaccha added 14 points and eight boards, and Jenna Einink netted 12 points to go with 10 rebounds.
NOTEWORTHY
- With the victory, Fredonia earns a point in the season-long, all sports "Battle by the Lake" competition between the two schools and also edges ahead of the Bengals in the race for the SUNYAC playoffs.
- Buffalo State is outscoring its opposition in each of the first three quarters this season with a plus-37 advantage, but has a minus-41 scoring differential in the fourth quarter.
