Men’s Hockey powers past No. 14/15 Fredonia, 3-1

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State scored a pair of first-period power play goals and added an empty-netter to seal a 3-1 victory over nationally No.14/15-ranked Fredonia in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cody Symonds (Woodbridge, ON/Emily Carr), Jon Colley (Stouffville, ON/Stouffville District) and Andrew Husted (Niagara Falls, NY/Grand Island) all scored for Buffalo State, and Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) and Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/OHA) had a pair of assists each.
  • Symonds opened the scoring with a power-play marker just over seven minutes into the contest with assists from Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) and Vadim Vasjonkin (Tallinn, Estonia).
  • Colley extended the Bengals lead just over five minutes later with his fifth of the season also on the power play.
  • The Blue Devils responded with a power-play goal of their own late in the second period, but could not tally the equalizer.
  • Husted capped off the scoring with his seventh of the year in the final seconds into the empty net.
  • Buffalo State outshot Fredonia 30-21 for the game and finished 2 for 5 on the man-advantage.  The Blue Devils were 1 for 3.
  • Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Manchester Central) finished with 20 saves in the win.
