Women’s Hockey falls to No. 1 Plattsburgh in season opener, 5-0

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State opened the 2019-20 season under first-year head coach David Dee at home today against reigning national champion and current No. 1-ranked Plattsburgh, dropping a 5-0 decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cardinals scored twice in the first, twice in the second and completed the scoring with the only goal of the third period.
  • Plattsburgh posted a 39-14 advantage in shots on goal as Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) finished with 34 saves in the loss.
  • The Cardinals finished 2 for 7 on the power play, and the Bengals were 0 for 4.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Taylor Whitney scored twice for Plattsburgh.  Sara Krauseneck, Annie Katonka and Sarah Wolf also scored.
