Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA) scored three times as Buffalo State broke out for its first win of the season under first-year head coach
David Dee, defeating host SUNY Canton, 6-2, this afternoon in NEWHL play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Canton opened the scoring midway through the first period, but Steinle gave the Bengals a lead they would never relinquish with a pair of goals just over two minutes apart late in the opening frame.
- Ky Lackey (Phoenix, AZ/Barry Goldwater) added to Buffalo State's lead with the team's second power-play goal of the game in the middle of the second period, and then Steinle's third pushed the lead to 4-1 with five minutes remaining in the frame.
- Canton closed the gap to 4-2 with a goal of its own in the final minute of the period.
- Cheyenne Matson (Wasilla, AK/Matsu Career & Tech) added an insurance marker in the third period on a wrist shot from the slot.
- Tristin Stetson (Anchorage, AK/West) completed the scoring with her first collegiate goal into the empty net.
- Rianna Schacher (Westminster, CO/Hill Murray) and Kira Herkey (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) finished with two assists apiece, and Matson, Lexi Lazore (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) and Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) added one assist each.
- Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) finished with 32 saves in the win as Canton finished with a 34-26 advantage in shots on goal.
