BUFFALO, N.Y.—No. 2/3 Plattsburgh and Buffalo State traded goals early, but the visiting Cardinals proved to be too strong as they pulled away for a 5-1 victory today at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Plattsburgh took an early lead just 1:38 into the contest, the Bengals evened the score less than two minutes later.
- Cheyenne Matson (Wasilla, AK/Matsu Career & Tech) raced to a loose puck and netted her fourth goal of the season with assists from Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) and Courtney Cavarello (N. Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home).
- The Cardinals took the lead for good later in the first period and extended the lead to 3-1, scoring in the final minute of the middle frame.
- Plattsburgh iced the game with two more goals in the third period.
- Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) was solid between the pipes making 41 saves as the Bengals were outshot, 46-12.
FOR THE FOES
- Courtney Moriarty scored twice for Plattsburgh, and Taylor Whitney, Sierra Benjamin and Madison Walker also scored.
- Erin McArdle had three assists.
