Women’s Lacrosse clobbers D’Youville, 15-4

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette), Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) and Hannah Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) finished with a combined 12 goals and seven assists as Buffalo State cruised past host D'Youville, 15-4, in non-conference action to extend its winning streak to three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Schaefer scored a game-high six goals on eight shots, while Skuse tallied eight points on four goals and four assists to go along with six ground balls.
  • Nagowski added two goals and dished out three assists.
  • Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier), Liz Schultheis (Brockport/Brockport) and Kayla Rose (Lancaster/Lancaster) also scored for the Bengals.
  • Buffalo State stormed out of the gate by scoring the first four goals behind a pair of unassisted goals from Skuse.
  • D'Youville found themselves on the board with a goal at the 13:48 mark of the first half, but that be its only tally of the stanza as the Bengals added four-unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes to take an 8-1 halftime lead.
  • Buffalo State continued its momentum in the second half by opening with five goals in a 10-minute span, including a goal from Schaefer just 49 seconds into the second frame, to take a 13-1 lead with 20:41 left in the contest.
  • The Spartans outscored the Bengals 3-2 in the final 20 minutes of the contest, but it was not enough as Buffalo State cruised for the non-conference win.
  • Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont Memorial) and Mackenna Murphy (Rochester/Hoosac) combined for the win in net for the Bengals, tallying seven saves in 60 minutes of action.
  • Buffalo State finished a perfect 14 of 14 on clear attempts while holding a 27-11 advantage in shots.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Sierra Brooks, Clarice Byrne and Paige Robinson all scored for the Spartans.
  • Megan Dulniak finished with 12 saves in the loss in net for D'Youville.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State returns to the field on Friday as it travels to Houghton for a non-conference contest starting at 7 p.m.
