Buffalo State and Fredonia will reboot the 2018-19 "Battle by the Lake" competition tomorrow with a women's lacrosse matchup that comes at a pivotal time in the season series as the Blue Devils are clinging to a 13-12 advantage. The Bengals and Blue Devils will square off at 4 p.m. on Coyer Field.
Buffalo State is 4-2 overall and will be opening its SUNYAC season. Fredonia is 3-5 overall and is 0-1 in SUNYAC play after falling at home to Oswego on Saturday, 23-3. The Bengals have won two-straight against Fredonia, including a 23-9 home win last season, after the Blue Devils had won four in a row from 2013-16.

Three Buffalo State players are closing in 100 career points.
Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) sits at 98,
Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) has 88, and
Jackie Dufresne (Lakeview/Frontier) has 84. Sixteen players in school history have reached the 100-point plateau. Skuse leads the Bengals with 44 points on 13 goals and 31 assists this season. Schaefer has a team-best 22 goals, and Dufresne has scored 16 goals.
Melissa Camp (Walworth/Gananda) leads the Bengals with 18 ground balls, and
Hannah Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) has a team-best 16 draw controls.Â
Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont Memorial) had a .515 save percentage and a 9.41 GAA.

Established for the 2014-15 season, the "Battle by the Lake" is a season-long "all sports" competition between Buffalo State and Fredonia. Each sport in which the two schools compete is worth two points annually. Each game this weekend carries one point for the winning school.
