Buffalo State will look to build off its recent 23-7 victory in women's lacrosse last Wednesday, as it travels to Fredonia for a softball doubleheader tomorrow. The games come at a pivotal time in the season series with the Bengals clinging to a 14-13 lead. The first pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m.
Buffalo State finished 5-7 on its annual trip to Clermont, Fla., including winning four of its final six games. Fredonia enters the matchup 5-9 on its trips to Salem, Va. and Clermont, Fla. The Bengals swept the doubleheader last season, winning 7-5 in the first game and cruising to a 9-1 victory in the second game.
The Bengals have four players batting over .300 this season, including
Julia Blujus (Amherst/Sacred Heart) who is batting .400 and has tallied four doubles, four stolen bases, three RBIs and has scored 11 runs in 12 games.
Chelsea Davis (Lancaster/Lancaster) has a .390 average with four doubles and a team-high 10 RBIs.
Sydney McIntosh (Buffalo/Kenmore West) and
Oriana Castello (Pearl River/ Nanuet) are batting .333 and .306 respectively while combining for 12 RBIs and 9 run scored.
Castello also lead the pitching for Buffalo State with a 2.52 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched to a tune of a 3-3 record.
Marissa Hayes (N. Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) has a 3.43 ERA in 34.2 innings pitched and has a 2-4 record.

The next "Battle by the Lake" installment will be at the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field held at Brockport on May 3-4. This will be the last chance for both teams to earn points this season.
Established for the 2014-15 season, the "Battle by the Lake" is a season-long "all sports" competition between Buffalo State and Fredonia. In the sport of softball, which includes two games, each game will be worth one point. Buffalo State currently holds a slim
14-13 lead with only four opportunities to earn point left.
