CORTLAND, N.Y.—Cortland escaped with a 1-0 walkoff victory in the opening game and then completed the sweep over visiting Buffalo State with an 8-1 win in the late game today, limiting the Bengals to just 10 hits in two games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sydney McIntosh (Buffalo/Kenmore West) was 1 for 3 with a one-out double in the seventh inning, becoming the only Bengal baserunner to advance past first base all game.
- Jenna Wlostowski (Lancaster/Alden) pinch ran and moved to third on a ground ball, but Cortland was able to register the third out to set up the walk-off victory.
- The Red Dragons finally plated the game's only run with three singles in the seventh inning that pushed home the winning run.
- Buffalo State finished with just three hits which accounted for the only runners on base all game.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River/Nanuet) took the hard-luck loss, scattering seven hits with two walks and one strikeout, but saw her 20-game hitting streak come to an end.
FOR THE FOES
- Sam Van Dorn pitched the complete-game, three-hitter and drove in the game's only run with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Castello started a new streak in the second game, going 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI in the late game.
- Alyssa Nichy (Depew/Depew) was 2 for 3.
- Cortland got its bats going in the early going with a homer in the first and a three-run second on two hits and two errors to take an early 4-0 lead.
- Castello drove in Nichy in the third to cut the deficit, but the Bengals only manage two more hits the rest of the game.
- Cortland added three runs on three hits in the fifth and added a final run in the sixth inning.
- Marissa Hayes (N. Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) was charged with the loss, pitching one-plus innings, allowing four hits and four runs (two earned).
- Emma Richard (Grand Island/Grand Island) surrendered four runs on four hits and four walks in five innings of relief.
FOR THE FOES
- Cady Walts pitched six innings for the win allowing just five hits and one run with six strikeouts. Courtney Kane allowed two hits in the final inning.
- Hannah Feldman homered, and Tori Scharff was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
