HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams hit the ball hard in the opening game with Geneseo collecting 12 hits, compared to 11 by the Bengals.
- Sydney McIntosh (Buffalo/Kenmore West) was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Bengals.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River/Nanuet) was also 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. She also took the loss in the circle, allowing nine hits and six runs (five earned) in four complete innings.
- Cassie O'Hern (Augusta, NJ/High Point) was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, and Julia Blujus (Amherst/Sacred Heart) was 2 for 4 with a run scored.
- Taylor Benton (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) opened the scoring in the second inning for the Bengals with a solo home run before the teams traded three-spots in the third inning.
- Geneseo evened the score at 4-4 with a run in the fourth and then took a lead it would not relinquish with a three-run fifth inning, capitalizing on a pair of hits and a pair of errors by Buffalo State.
- After the Knights added an insurance run in the sixth, Buffalo State cut the deficit in half in the seventh with a two-out, two-run homer by McIntosh, but the Knights sealed the win with a ground-out by the ensuing batter.
FOR THE FOES
- Five different players hit doubles for Geneseo, including Danni Napoli and Ashlyn Kirsch who were each 2 for 3 with an RBI.
- Jasmin Petrishin earned the win with four inning of three-hit, two-run relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo jumped out to a 6-0 lead through four innings of the late game, outhitting the Bengals 10-1.
- Buffalo State finally broke through in the fifth with a leadoff home run by Benton and finished in the inning with three runs on three hits and an error.
- The Knights used a five-hit, three-run seventh inning to create separation and claimed the victory.
- Geneseo finished with 17 hits, compared to six by Buffalo State.
- Benton led the Bengals going 2 for 3 with the home run.
- Emma Richard (Grand Island/Grand Island) suffered the loss for Buffalo State, allowing 10 hits and six runs in 3 2/3 innings.
FOR THE FOES
- Napoli paced Geneseo going 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs.
- Ashlyn Kersch was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and was the winning pitcher giving up six hits and one earned run with five strikeouts in the complete game effort.
