Women’s Lacrosse stumbles against Allegheny, 13-7

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny outscored the visiting Bengals 6-2 in the second half, including scoring six-unanswered goals in a 19-minute span, en route to a 13-7 win in non-conference action this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Anisa Mahmood (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Mary Musialowski (Lancaster/Sacred Heart) each scored twice to lead the Bengals.
  • Kacey Stack (Blasdell/Frontier), Kali Wright (Wyoming/Alexander), Erica Kennedy (Irving/Lake Shore) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • After a back-and-forth start to the first half that saw the Bengals get out to a 5-3 lead, the Gators netted the final four goals of the opening period to lead 7-5 at halftime.
  • Allegheny continued their offensive pressure in the opening minutes of the second stanza by scoring the first five goals in the first 10 minutes to take a 13-5 lead.
  • The Gators scored one final goal with 11 minutes left, while Buffalo State closed the contest with a pair of goals in the final seven minutes.
  • Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont Memorial) finished with a game-high 15 saves in net for the Bengals.
  • Allegheny finished with a 34-19 shot advantage, while forcing 26 Bengal turnovers.
  • The Bengals were 15 of 30 on clears but failed to overcome a 17-5 edge in draw controls by the Gators.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Brenna Lawler and Senna Perelman each scored a game-high three goals to lead the Gators.
  • Fiona Barrett and Steph Shakespeare combined to make eight saves in net for Allegheny.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will return to Coyer Field on Wednesday for a home game against SUNY Poly at 4 p.m.
