GENESEO, NY – The Buffalo State volleyball team closed out their SUNYAC regular season schedule with a loss at Geneseo on Saturday afternoon. The Bengals fell to 8-11 (3-6 SUNYAC) with the defeat.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Eden Harrison (Eldersburg, MD/Century) led the Bengals with seven kills.
- Maddie Hannon (Elma, NY/Williamsville North), Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence), and Angelina Scichilone (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) tied for the team lead with eight digs each. Hugenschmidt also led the Bengals with three aces.
- Riley Domin (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) paced the Buffalo State offense with 22 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo raced out to a 12-3 lead in the first set, and pushed the lead to as many as 13 on the way to taking the set 25-13.
- The Knights used a six point run to turn a 3-1 Bengal lead into a 7-3 Geneseo lead early in the second set. The Bengals closed the gap to 14-12 thanks to a block and a kill by McCartney Geartz (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda) and a service ace by Hugenschmidt, but the Knights were able to close out the set 25-21.
- Geneseo won seven of the final ten points in the third set to on the way to sweeping the match with a 25-16 victory in the final frame.
- The Bengals will be watching intently next weekend to see whether they will earn a SUNYAC playoff berth. If Oneonta loses their two matches against Brockport and Geneseo, Buffalo State will clinch the sixth seed.
FOR THE FOES
- Isabella Imbo posted a game-high 14 kills for Geneseo.
- Emily Haber was a force defensively, registering 23 digs in the match.
- Jackie Borland added six total blocks, and Morgan Michalski handed out 32 assists.
UP NEXT
The Bengals close out the regular season with three non-conference matchups next week. They travel to Houghton on Tuesday evening, before taking on Rochester and St. John Fisher in Pittsford on Saturday afternoon.
