The win advances the Bengals to the championship round of the Buffalo State Bengals Classic, where they will take on Wilkes University tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

THE BASICS

LOCATION: Ice Arena – Buffalo, NY
RECORDS: Buffalo State (1-0), Albertus Magnus (0-1)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Logar scored the second and third Bengal goals, one in the first period and another in the second period.
  • Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia/ Springfield Jr. Blues) registered assists on both of Logar's goals.
  • Tyler Vanuden (Fort Frances, ON/Finlandia University) scored the opening goal of the Bengals' season.
  • Emil Norrman (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Dells Ducks) stopped 27 shots to record the win in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals struck quickly for their first goal of the season less than four minutes into the opening period. Vanuden lofted a pass to a streaking ANthoney Morin (Greenfield Center, NY/Utica Jr. Comets), who was denied by the Falcons goalkeeper. Joel Frazee (Monroe, MI/Shreveport Mudbugs) picked up the loose puck behind the net and sent a behind the back pass to Vanuden in front of the net for a tap-in.
  • Logar doubled the Buffalo State lead on the power play late in the first period. He buried a rebound after A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Lockport Regals) rifled a shot off the crossbar.
  • Albertus Magnus pulled even with two goals early in the second period, scoring just forty-five seconds into the period, and then again with just under 15 minutes remaining in the period.
  • Logar scored the game-winner with just over four minutes remaining in the period. He took a cross-ice pass from Kozyrev, skated around a defender, and had his return pass to Kozyrev bounce off a defender to give the Bengals the lead once again.
  • In the third period, both teams had some good chances, but were unable to connect.
  • The Falcons had one final chance to tie the score in the closing seconds, but Reid Bibb (Gaithersburg, MD/Philadelphia Flyers) made a huge defensive play to block a shot and secure the victory.

FOR THE FOES
  • Charles Risk registered two assists for the visitors.
