BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State volleyball won the first two sets on Saturday, then completed the victory with an incredible comeback in a marathon fourth set to defeat Oneonta on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Alena McKelvey (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) led the Bengals with a 14 kill, 10 dig double-double.
- Eden Harrison (Eldersburg, MD/Century) added nine kills, and Liz Schultheis (Holley, NY/Brockport) added eight kills and had eight blocks, three solo and five block assists.
- Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) recorded a game-high 18 digs. She also had five of the 11 service aces in the match for the Bengals.
- Riley Domin (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) handed out 29 assists, and contributed 11 digs in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oneonta jumped out to a 17-13 lead in the first set, but the Bengals quickly erased the deficit thanks to a seven-point serving run by Hugenschmidt and a four-point serving run by Abby Verner (Ransomville, NY/Trinity).The Bengals won 12 of the final 13 points in the set for a 25-18 victory.
- Buffalo State jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set, but Oneonta fought back to within one at 18-17. Consecutive kills by Harrison and McKelvey, and two tandem blocks by the duo helped Buffalo State build a 23-17 lead as the Bengals closed out the second set 25-20.
- The Bengals had a 14-9 lead in the third set but were unable to close out the match as Oneonta stayed alive with a 25-23 victory.
- With the Bengals trailing 24-20 in the fourth set, the match seemed destined to go to a fifth set, but Buffalo State had other ideas. After two Red Dragon attack errors, kills by Angelina Scichilone (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) and Harrison tied the score at 24-24. Buffalo State fought off two more set points at 25-24 and 26-25, and eventually closed out the match 31-29 after a service ace by Destinee Norman (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston Porter).
- The fourth set was the longest set that the Bengals have played this season.

- Caitlin Christie tallied 15 kills in the losing effort for the Red Dragons.
