BUFFALO, NY — The Buffalo State men's hockey team scored first, but Elmira responded with five unanswered goals to earn a 5-1 victory over the Bengals on Saturday evening.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jared Figueroa (Scotch Plains, NJ/Florida Eels) scored the lone Buffalo State goal, his first collegiate goal.
- Emil Norrman (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Dells Ducks) stopped 34 shots in goal in a losing effort.
- Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) and Andrew Logar (Niagara Falls, NY/Corpus Christi Ice Rays) tallied the assists of the goal.
- Michael McCosh (Glendale, AZ/New Mexico Ice Wolves) won six of his 11 faceoffs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Figueroa found the back of the net for the first goal of the game with just under three minutes remaining in the first period.
- Norrman made 11 saves as the Bengals held the lead at the first intermission.
- The second period was when it began to go wrong for Buffalo State. The Soaring Eagles tied the game less than four minutes into the second period and took the lead for good two minutes later.
- Elmira tacked on two more goals late in the period to head into the locker room with a 4-1 lead.
- The Soaring Eagles scored one final time with just over three minutes remaining in the third period for the final tally.
THE FOES
- Christian Abrams scored twice, and while Chance Gorman added a goal and two assists.
- Chris Janzen allowed just the one goal, and made 28 saves to earn the victory in net.
