BUFFALO, NY — Two separate five-minute stretches where they allowed a combined six goals doomed the Buffalo State men's hockey team as it fell 8-3 to nationally fourth-ranked Hobart on Friday evening at the Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Lockport Regals), Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, NY/New Jersey Titans), and Joel Frazee (Monroe, MI/Shreveport Mudbugs) each scored their first goals of the season for Buffalo State.
- Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Islanders Hockey Club) stopped 42 shots in a losing effort.
- Nine Bengals registered a point in the game.
- Glamos once again led the Bengals at the faceoff dot, winning four of his six opportunities.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart opened the scoring just before the halfway point in the first period, but Minch made nine saves to limit the deficit to one into the first intermission.
- The Statesmen scored three times in a five-minute span in the second period to extend the lead to 4-0.
- Marinelli pulled a goal back for Buffalo State with under four minutes remaining in the period, having his shot deflect off of a defender and into the back of the net.
- Hobart added another goal early in the third period to extend the lead to 5-1.
- Two consecutive goals gave the Bengals hope at the midway point in the final period.
- Glamos showed great hand-eye coordination to deflect a Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives) pass off of the back of the Hobart goaltender for Buffalo State's second goal.
- On the penalty kill, Michael McCosh (Glendale, AZ/New Mexico Ice Wolves) sprung Frazee on a breakaway, who deked out the goaltender and finished with a backhanded shot into the upper corner of the net to cut the score to 5-3.
- Another goal spurt for the Statesmen put the game out of reach, as they added three more insurance goals for the 8-3 final.
FOR THE FOES
- Dan Sliney led Hobart with two goals, and one was one of seven Statesmen who registered two points.
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will get the opportunity to shake off this loss very quickly, traveling to face Elmira College in another non-conference matchup tomorrow evening.
