Women's Hockey Falls to top-ranked Plattsburgh

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team dropped their NEWHL home opener to nationally top-ranked Plattsburgh 7-0 on Friday evening at the Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) made a career-high 65 saves in goal for the Bengals.
  • Tori Fadeley (Buffalo, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) led Buffalo State with five shots on goal, while Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) had three shots on goal.
     
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Plattsburgh scored their first goal just over seven minutes into the game, as Annie Katonka blasted home a Sara Krauseneck feed.
  • The duo connected four minutes later, but this time Krauseneck scored off an assist from Katonka.
  • Auge made twenty saves in the opening period.
  • The Cardinals added three goals in the second period to extend their lead to 5-0 going into the second intermission.
  • In the third period, Auge denied multiple breakaway opportunities for the Cardinals with excellent saves.
  • Plattsburgh added a couple of goals late in the period for the 7-0 final.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Krauseneck and Ivy Boric each scored twice for the Cardinals in the victory.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals host Cortland in more NEWHL action on Saturday afternoon at the Ice Arena.
