BUFFALO, NY — Joel Frazee (Monroe MI/Shreveport Mudbugs) scored a hat trick for the Buffalo State men's hockey team, as the Bengals got back on track with a 7-1 thrashing of Potsdam on Saturday evening at the Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Frazee's three goals bring his season total to four, the most on Buffalo State this year.
• Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Islanders Hockey Club) stopped 28 shots in goal, earning his first victory of the season.
• Bryan Colburn (Cumberland, RI/Johnson & Wales) and Hayden Ford (Medford, NJ/Philadelphia Revolution) each recorded two assists, while Colburn also won 13 of 17 faceoffs.
• Andrew Logar (Niagara Falls, NY/Corpus Christi Ice Rays) scored a goal, added an assist, and dominated on faceoffs, winning 18 of his 24 attempts.
• Matt Pasic (Cotuit, MA/Philadelphia Revolution), Anthony Morin (Greenfield Center, NY/Utica Jr. Comets), and Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives) each scored their first career goals.
• Fourteen Bengals registered a point in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Potsdam opened the scoring with 4:30 remaining in the opening period, as Nick Alfieri beat Minch to the upper left corner of the net with a shot.
• The Bears held the 1-0 advantage through the first intermission.
• Buffalo State evened the score six minutes into the second period, as Roger Powers (Pittsford, NY/SUNY Canton) sent a cross ice pass to Morin, who skated past multiple defenders and ripped a wrist shot into the roof of the net.
• Frazee gave the Bengals the lead for good with four minutes left in the second period, snapping a wrist shot from the right circle to the top left corner of the goal.
• The Bengals tacked on five goals in the final period to turn a close contest into a blowout.
• Logar doubled the Buffalo State advantage with a power-play goal two minutes into the final period.
• Frazee scored his second of the night, blasting a one-timer from the right slot off a spinning feed from A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Lockport Regals) past the Potsdam goalie.
• Frazee completed his hat trick on a breakaway with six and a half minutes remaining in the game, stealing the puck and making an excellent move to deke the goalie and finish with a backhander.
• Allison scored a power-play goal off a slapshot from the point with under one minute remaining in regulation, and Pasic knocked in a rebound with 24.9 seconds left for the final two Buffalo State goals.

• Alfieri scored the Bears' goal, with Josh Bifulchi recording the assist.

Buffalo State will look to keep the momentum going on Tuesday afternoon when they take on Elmira in a non-conference matchup. The Soaring Eagles defeated the Bengals 5-1 last weekend in Elmira, but this time, Buffalo State will be the host. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from the Ice Arena.
