BUFFALO, NY — Four different Bengals scored as the Buffalo State men's hockey team exacted revenge on Elmira in a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night at the Ice Arena. The Soaring Eagles had defeated Buffalo State 5-1 earlier this month and came into the day ranked 15
th in the most recent USCHO poll, but the Bengals played a complete game for the full sixty minutes to earn a defining victory and win their second game in a row.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Andrew Logar (Niagara Falls, NY/Corpus Christi Ice Rays) and A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Lockport Regals) each recorded a goal and an assist to lead Buffalo State. Logar also won 11 of his 14 faceoff attempts.
- Tyler Vanuden (Fort Frances, ON/Finlandia University), and Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) netted the other goals for the Bengals.
- Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Islanders Hockey Club) stopped 28 shots in goal, earning his second consecutive victory.
- Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives), Hayden Ford (Medford, NJ/Philadelphia Revolution), Connor Bizal (Elk River, MN/Boston Jr. Rangers), and Michael McCosh (Glendale, AZ/New Mexico Ice Wolves) all tallied assists in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elmira struck first in the with five minutes to go in the opening period on some excellent passing, leading to Janis Vizbelis finding the back of the net.
- Marinelli had a great opportunity to tie the score with under two minutes remaining in the period on a breakaway, but his shot rang off the right post.
- The Soaring Eagles held a 1-0 advantage at the first intermission, but a 5-minute major penalty with 6.8 seconds left in the period gave the Bengals the start of a power-play that they would need to jumpstart the offense.
- The Bengals scored all four of their goals in the second period to turn the deficit into a 4-2 lead after two periods.
- Vanuden tied the score less than two minutes into the period, having his shot deflect into the back of the net for the tying goal.
- Marinelli gave the Bengals the lead just past the halfway point off a rebound after Bizal's initial shot was saves but not corralled by the goaltender.
- Elmira tied the score with under five minutes in the period, as Jared Smith pushed a loose puck past Minch into the back of the net.
- Buffalo State took advantage of coincidental penalties, scoring twice on the ensuing two minutes of four-on-four action.
- Kozyrev gave the Bengals the lead for good with just over three minutes left in the second period, stealing the puck and sliding a shot into the corner of the net after faking a centering pass.
- Logar rifled a shot into the top of the net almost exactly one minute later to give Buffalo State a two-goal lead.
- In the third period, Elmira pulled within a goal about halfway through the period as Vizbelis scored his second of the game.
- After a Buffalo State penalty, Minch made three excellent saves in quick succession to deny Elmira the tying goal.
- The Soaring Eagles pulled their goalie in the final two minutes, but were unable to find an equalizer, with Minch making one final save with two seconds remaining.
