#TBT150 - Kissinger Pool

As Buffalo State celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, the athletics department will spotlight a moment from its history each week during the fall semester.

The completely renovated Kissinger Pool reopened in Summer 2014 as a part of the 27 million dollar renovation of Houston Gym, and is home to the Buffalo State men's and women's swimming and diving teams. The pool features a six-lane, 25-yard facility with a seating capacity of 200, is equipped with a Colorado Timing System and a new sound system, scoreboard and record board. The diving end is 12' deep with starting blocks and one and three-meter diving boards. The shallow end is 3' 6" with handicap lift.

The pool is named after Buffalo State swimmer Bob Kissinger, the first swimmer in school history to win an individual SUNYAC title in 1970, when he won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events at the conference championships. He was also an integral member of the 1971 team that won the first overall team SUNYAC Championship in program history. Kissinger was posthumously inducted into the Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.
