BUFFALO, N.Y.— Buffalo State's offense powered the Bengals to a two-game sweep over visiting Houghton in today's home openers, rallying for an 11-9 victory in the first game before sprinting to an 11-1 five-inning win in the nightcap.
GAME 1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State spotted the Highlanders a 7-0 lead in a sloppy start, but erased the deficit with a seven-run bottom of the second inning that included a grand slam by Sydney McIntosh (Buffalo/Kenmore West).
- The Bengals took the lead with a pair of runs in the second and never surrendered the lead again.
- Buffalo State overcame four errors in the field, plating 11 runs on 12 hits.
- McIntosh led the way offensively, going 3 for 3 with six RBIs and the home run.
- Taylor Benton (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) was 2 for 3 with a pair of triples and an RBI and a run scored.
- Jenna Wlostowski (Lancaster/Alden) and Caitlyn Parsons (Webster/Webster Thomas) added two hits and an RBI and run scored each.
- Makena Adams (Randolph/Frewsburg) earned her first collegiate win, pitching six innings of relieve, allowing five hits and one earned run with five strikeouts.
FOR THE FOES
- Hannah Cybart was 4 for 4 with a double and four runs scored, while Caitlyn Cybart was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Houghton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals kept the bats going to start the second game, scoring seven runs on eight hits in the first inning. The Bengals pushed the lead to 10-1 in the second inning and then coasted to the abbreviated win.
- Parsons paced the Bengals going 3 for 3 with two runs scored.
- McIntosh stayed hot, going 2 for 2 with two runs scored.
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster/Lancaster) belted a two-run home run, Benton was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Oriana Castello (Pearl River/Nanuet) was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
- Carli Bogue (Elba/Elba) was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings, allowing three hits and just one run. She was also 1 for 1 with two RBIs.
FOR THE FOES
- Alisabeth Crandall collected two of the Highlanders' three hits.
