BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State outlasted visiting Fredonia for a 10-9 win in today's opener and then completed the sweep with an 8-0, five-inning win in the nightcap.
GAME 1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State overcame six defensive errors to escape with a 10-9 victory in the opener.
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster/Webster Thomas) was 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Bengals' bats.
- Taylor Benton (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, including the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning. She also had a triple.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River/Nanuet) and Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster/Lancaster) were each 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run.
- The Bengals jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but a six-run third by Fredonia erased the advantage. The scored was even at 8-8 after four innings before Benton's blast broke the tie in the sixth. Fredonia plated one run in the seventh, but could not get the equalizer.
- Makena Adams (Randolph/Frewsburg) earned the win, allowing 12 hits and nine runs (three earned) in six innings. Olivia Carr (West Falls/East Aurora) closed the game and earned the save with two strikeouts in one inning of work.

- Delana Thomas and Marisa Sultana led Fredonia with three hits apiece.
GAME 2 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals cruised in the second game, plating eight runs in just four offensive innings.
- Parsons remained perfect for the day, going 3 for 3 with three doubles and three RBIs.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River/Nanuet) was 2 for 3 with two triples, two RBIs and three runs scored.
- Savannah Sirico (Mount Marion/Saugerties) was also 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Benton was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.
- Carr cruised in the circle, allowing just three hits with four strikeouts for the shutout win.
FOR THE FOES
- Nicole Kumro was 2 for 2 for the Blue Devils.
