LOCATION:  University Stadium – Fredonia, N.Y.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Senior forward Theo Pencic (Oslo, Norway/Heltberg) tallied a goal and added an assist to lead the Bengal offense for the second consecutive game.
  • Freshman forward Freddy Fikiri (Buffalo, N.Y./McKinley) tallied his first collegiate goal, coming off the bench in the 51st minute.
  • Junior goalkeeper Max Shoemaker (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) needed just two saves to earn his second victory of the season.
  • The Bengals dominated on the shot count for the third consecutive game, out shooting the Knights by a 25-5 margin, including a 15-2 edge in shots on target.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was another quick start for the Bengals, as Pencic stole a pass from a Mount St. Mary defender, just outside the box, made a run to center and finished with his right foot low and to the keeper's right in the seventh minute.
  • Buffalo State made it 2-0 just after halftime when Pencic, possessing the ball just outside the penalty box, slotted a short through pass towards Fikiri, who snuck into open space from the right of the two central defenders. Fikiri patiently baited the keeper out of his line and finished low past him.

FOR THE FOES
  • Knights goalkeeper Zach Decker made 13 saves in the losing effort.
  • Connor Doyle led the team with three shots, two on target.

  • Fikiri and senior defender Saleman Salim (Nairobi, Kenya/Hutch Tech) landed on the All-Tournament team for their efforts.
