BUFFALO, N.Y.— The Buffalo State volleyball team entered Saturday with an extra game on its schedule thanks to last-second maneuvering, but it didn't affect the Bengals as they put up dominant performances in sweeps of SUNY Poly and Medaille at the Medaille Tri-Match Saturday afternoon.

- Buffalo State hit a season-best .294 and contributed 18 aces as a team in the victory.
- Senior middle hitter Liz Schultheis (Holley, N.Y./Brockport) led the balanced attack with five kills.
- Senior outside hitter Alena McKelvey (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors) tallied a career-best seven aces, adding three kills offensively.
- Sophomore setter Riley Domin (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville South) tallied nine assists and led the defense with seven digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 'State raced out to a 12-1 lead in the opening set, after three consecutive McKelvey service aces.
- The Bengals kept the pressure on, winning four of the last six points to take the first set 25-12.
- The second set was one of the more dominant sets in Bengal history, as the team allowed just three points.
- The Bengals went on runs of 12, four, five, and four sandwiched around the three Wildcat points.
- The Bengals put their reserves in for the third set, as SUNY Poly took a 7-6 lead.
- Seven consecutive Bengal points flipped the game, as they took a 7-6 deficit into a 13-7 lead.
- Buffalo State scored seven of the last eight points to finish the sweep.
FOR THE FOES
- Emma Draper tallied six kills to lead the Wildcats.
- Kaley Pichura added seven assists and six digs, both team-highs.

- Junior defensive specialist Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) had a big game defensively with 14 digs.
- Freshman setter Abby Verner (Ransomville, N.Y./Trinity) set the table for the Bengal offense with 16 assists.
- Sophomore middle hitter McCartney Geartz (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) led the team with a .286 hitting percentage on 14 attempts.
FOR THE FOES
- Adrianna Parsons and Baylee Romano paced the Maverick offense with nine kills apiece. Romano also added a team-best 14 digs.
- Haley Kennedy added a 21-assist, 11-dig double-double.
