BUFFALO, N.Y. – A pair of second half goals by sophomores
Rachel Dolan (Grand Island, N.Y./Nichols) and
Macey Gioeli (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) were the difference as the Buffalo State College women's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 victory over Medaille at the Buffalo State Bengal Classic at Coyer Field Sunday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Dolan tallied her first career goal on her only shot of the game.
- Gioeli led the team with nine shots, five on target, including the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
- Senior Erin Valente (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) assisted on Gioeli's game-winning goal, her first of the season.
- Freshman Samantha Kaufman (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) made one save in the opening 45 minutes.
- Junior Bella Vene (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) earned the win in net, playing the entire second half
- The Bengals outshot the Mavericks by a 23-5 margin, including an 11-2 advantage with shots on target.
- The Bengals also earned 10 corner opportunities to Medaille's one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an evenly played 25 minutes, Medaille struck first in the 27th minute, as Jenna Gennaro scored off a scrum in front of net, after the initial shot by Kaia O'Rourke.
- The Bengals upped the pressure in the second half, keeping the Mavericks on the defensive as they attempted the comeback.
- On a break in the 68th minute, Dolan took a shot from about 27 yards out, the ball sailing underneath the outstretched left foot of freshman Heather Moriarty (Mount Morris, N.Y./Keshequa Central) and underneath Medaille keeper Jessica Tyrrell to her right.
- The Bengals took the lead in the 78th minute, as Valente's low shot deflected off the Medaille goalie to Gioeli, who scored easily into the open net.
- The Bengals 'D' held off Medaille over the final 11 minutes, as the Mavericks were unable to tally a shot on goal.
FOR THE FOES
- Gennaro's goal was her only shot of the game.
- Courtney Kline, Yulisa Tosado-Munoz, O'Rouke, and Isabella Finley also tallied shots.
- Tyrrell made nine saves in the losing effort.
