MEADVILLE, Pa. — Allegheny made an early goal stand, as a sixth-minute Abby Waryanka header pushed the Gators past the Buffalo State women's soccer team by a 1-0 score, in non-league action from the Blue Turf Field Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Senior defender A.J. Haase (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led the Bengals with two shots, one on target.
- Freshman midfielder Elsa Graf (Pulaski, N.Y./Sandy Creek), sophomore forward Macey Gioeli (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda), and senior midfielder Alexis Hults (Schenevus, N.Y./Schenevus) each added a shot.
- Junior goalkeeper Bella Vene (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) was solid despite the loss, stopping four of five shots on target.
- The Bengals are 3-3-1 all-time against the Gators, snapping a three-game winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- On a corner in the opening minute, a header by Waryanka hit the bottom of the crossbar, as Vene would recover the ensuing shot off the Gator rebound.
- In the sixth minute, off the game's second corner, Natasha Rosa found Waryanka once again, as her header went over Vene into the right corner of the net.
FOR THE FOES
- Allegheny outshot Buffalo State by a 20-5 margin.
- Four Gators, including Waryanka, led the team with three shots each.
- Kaitlynn Rees made two saves to earn the clean sheet.
