BUFFALO, NY — The Buffalo State women's hockey team fell to Canton, 6-0, in NEWHL action on Friday evening at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Canton got on the board first just before the midway point in the first period, as Victoria McGarrity snapped a wrist shot into the roof of the net after Auge had stopped an initial shot from the point by Sandrene Garofalo.
- The Bengals best chance of the period came with three minutes remaining, as Hannah Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Washington Pride) stole the puck, but had her shot saved well by the Canton goalie.
- The Kangaroos quickly widened their lead to four goals in the second period, scoring three goals in the opening six minutes of the frame.
- Later in the period, the Bengals had a great opportunity to score, but Angelina Cruzal's (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) shot whizzed just over the crossbar.
- The Kangaroos tacked on two more insurance goals in the third period for the final 6-0 tally.
- Canton outshot Buffalo State 47-26 in the contest.
FOR THE FOES
- McGarrity finished with a goal and an assist to lead Canton, while Kelly Leathem added two assists.
- Sirena Alvarez stopped all 26 shots she faced to earn the shutout in goal.
