BUFFALO, NY — Three different players scored their first collegiate goal as the Buffalo State women's hockey team earned their first victory of the season, a 5-2 win over Rivier University in non-conference action at the Ice Arena on Saturday evening.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The forward line of Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, NY/St. Lawrence Steel), Kiara Haynes (Littleton, CO/Team Colorado), and Hannah Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Washington Pride) combined to score all five goals for Buffalo State in their first action as linemates.
- Garrow scored her first two collegiate goals, added two assists, and won 22 of her 29 faceoff attempts to lead Buffalo State.
- Haynes also netted her first two collegiate goals, and added an assist.
- Tingley, playing as a forward for the first time after spending the early season as a defender, scored her first collegiate goal and also nabbed an assist.
- Autumn Benedict (Akwesasne, NY/Cornwall Typhoons) tallied two assists, while Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Elite Southern Express) and Lilliana Adimey (Buffalo, NY/Syracuse Valley Eagles) each recorded an assist.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) stopped 18 shots to earn her first collegiate victory.
- Buffalo State exceeded the 40 shot mark for the second game in a row, recording a season-high 47 shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State applied pressure on the Rivier defense early in the opening period, and Tingley gave the Bengals an early lead with a wrap-around goal just over five minutes into the game.
- Auge was rarely tested in the opening frame as the Bengals outshot the Raiders 17-2, but with only the one-goal lead at the first intermission.
- Garrow doubled the Buffalo State advantage early in the second period, pouncing on a loose puck after Benedict's shot from the point was saved by the goalie.
- The Bengals held a 14-7 lead in shot attempts in the second period, but the game remained 2-0 heading into the third period.
- Haynes wasted no time getting on the scoresheet in the third period, deflect another shot from the point by Benedict into the back of the net.
- Auge stopped a Rivier attacker on a breakaway two minutes later to maintain the three-goal advantage.
- Garrow extended the Buffalo State lead to 4-0 just a few minutes later, jamming a perfect feed from behind the net by Haynes past the goalie.
- Rivier responded with a pair of power-play goals to cut the Buffalo State lead in half just past the halfway point in the final period.
- With the score still 4-2 with four minutes remaining, Auge made another great save on a breakaway to preserve the lead.
- Rivier pulled their goalie in the final two minutes, and Haynes sealed the victory with her second of the day, stealing the puck and sliding a shot into the empty net with just over a minute left.
FOR THE FOES
- Jordyn Stock and Brianna Parent each found the back of the net for the Raiders.
- Rachel Symmes stopped 42 shots in goal in a losing effort.
