NEW PALTZ, NY – The Buffalo State volleyball fell in straight sets to SUNYAC foe New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals raced out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set, but the Hawks slowly began to make a comeback. Trailing 15-12, New Paltz won seven straight points to take control of the set, and rolled to a 25-18 victory.
- In a back-and-forth second set, the Hawks used a five-point run to turn a 17-16 deficit into a 21-17 lead. Buffalo State closed to within 22-20 on a solo block by Geartz and a combo block by Geartz and Mergler, but New Paltz finished the set by winning the final three points.
- Buffalo State held a 24-22 advantage in the third set, but the Hawks fought off two set points and won the final four points to take the match with a 26-24 victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Mackenzie Williams led New Paltz with 17 kills.
- Melanie Podstupka had 16 digs, while Mia Waddell had 14 digs.
