BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team wrapped up a 2-0 weekend to start the season with a 7-1 victory over Wilkes at the Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE:
- Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) scored her first two collegiate goals to lead Buffalo State.
- Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) and Erica Greene (Oswego, NY/Shoreline Sharks) each scored a goal and added two assists. Garrow was also +6 for the day, while Greene was +4.
- Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) recorded a goal and an assist, while Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Elite Southern Express) and Lilli Adimey (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Bisons) had two assists each.
- Eleven different players registered a point for Buffalo State.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) stopped 22 0f 23 shots on goal in the victory.
- The seven Buffalo State goals were the most by the Bengals since the 2016-17 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Willick got the Bengals on the board first early in the opening period, ripping a wrist shot into the top corner from just inside the right faceoff dot.
- Garrow pounced on a rebound for a power-play goal to extend the Bengals' lead just before the halfway mark of the period.
- The Bengals scored two goals in the opening three minutes of the second period, as Cruzal snapped home a shot from the left point after stealing the puck, and Greene added her first collegiate goal just one minute later.
- After a Wilkes goal, Buffalo State added a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the period as Willick netted her second goal of the game, and Bethany Horvatits (Elma, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) scored, each deking the Wilkes goalie with nifty moves.
- Carys Ursell (Calgary, AB/Calgary Fire) finished the scoring for Buffalo State just past the midway point of the third period, sending a wrist shot into the top corner of the net for the 7-1 final.
FOR THE FOES
- Bella Kaczorowski scored the lone Wilkes goal.
